5 FROM 50
i chose this photo because I think it links to the subject of hidden worlds. There may be some sort of mystery as to what's inside the box if it was closed but this photo reveals it. I think this one stands out from my other 5 because you can properly see inside the box.
I like this photo because the box is upside down and could represent some sort of world being upside down. My camera focused by itself on the shells and I think the way you can see each patter on the shells makes the photo more interesting as you get a sense of the texture.
the thing that made me choose this image is the unusual angle the box is at. I think it looks very different from the rest of the photos. I like the way the shells inside the box are spilling which is like opening up a secret.
this is one of my favourite photos because of the way that you can see the whole of the front of the box. Each detail is shown properly and I like the 2 different shades of shadow and how they're positioned differently. The shells have their own textures which are shown very well in this image. The fact that the box is closed makes it more simple in a less is more sort of way.
this image is one of my favourites because the way that the front of the box is focused gives an illusion that you'll get to see what's inside the box, but I like how the rest of the image is blurred due to the fact that my camera took a macro shot of the front of the box. I like that the handle to open the box is in your face as if asking someone to open or close it.

_"photography must suggest, not insist or explain". Brassai is known for
his macro surrealist photography of random objects. He takes photo's of
everything things such as toothpaste but takes them in a way that you
cant tell what it is at first guess. However he doesn't make them so
surreal that you cannot tell at all. ; they keep you guessing. Some of
his most distinctive photos are of things as simple as a ticket stub and
pencil shavings. Whats implied in this work is that he is original and
not trying to be like anyone else. His stye is unique and no one takes
photos like him. He is trying to achieve in his photos, a sense of
surrealism that isn't captures by many other photographers. His
photographs have influenced me to try and make photographs with the same
affect as his.
