My next idea was to photoshop images to make them look distorteddistored because editing is the main way in which photos are changed to look like something completely different. Therefor I want to try and find out what looks most effective in terms of editing images to make them look like something else.
Jonathan Ducruix
What caught my attention to this photographer was the way that the photos were all similarly toned which overall made the mood of the photos quite calm. I like the simplistic look to his work even though the editing skills behind the photos are much more complicated. I chose these images in hope that they would help me explore distortion in a different way than I previously have because now I want to focus more on using photoshop to achieve the images I want. However I think that this would be a hard task to accomplish.
Jonathan Ducruix experimentation
I thought these were similar because of how they both show breaking down of the body and manipulation of the face. I got the ideas to play around with photoshop after looking at Jonathans Ducruix's photos because in the first image I started of simply turning the eyes and mouth upside-down because I found this was a very simple thing to do but it had a really positive effect on the face which is was I hope to do with the rest of the Photoshop images.
Ulric Collette.
Born in 1979, he is a self taught photographer and he studied art and graphic design in Quebec city.
His work has been presented in various websites, magazines and books all over the world. Recently, his work on the genetic portraits series was shortlisted in the world most prestigious advertising awards show.

Ulric Collette - Genetic Portraits.
I liked his work and thought it stood out because of the way the photos have been edited together so seamlessly. I think that the combination of people is a clever idea and I want to experiment with it to further investigate how to distort a face. The people that he used all look quite similar (possibly related) and I think it would be more interesting to do a similar thing but with people who look completely different to each other - different genders and races.
Morphing distortion Experimentation.
Ulric Collettes images inspired me to merge faces together. I liked the idea because if you look at the before and after photos of the models , you can see how the face has changed. I think it shows distortion because it shows the alteration of the faces. One of the things that ruined this image was that it was difficult blending the skin together because of the differences in skin tone.

I did more than one edit of this face combination because I liked how different the two models look to each other. I like combining males with females because I think it makes the most interesting mix which results in the images looking for disfigured. Because of the mixing of genders, it makes the outcome look more strange because it becomes harder to tell which gender the new 'person' is. With their faces being 'opposites' it created a really powerful contrast when I kept some features from both of the models. I liked that the eyes are not at the same level. I got inspiration from Picasso and his abnormal artwork. This inspired me to do even more odd features. One of the things I found difficult was editing the photos to make the whole face one similar colour.
I decided to experiment further and change the eyes of the model. I started off with one which I think looks the most effective in terms of distortion. I think it looks good because of the femininity of the eyes. Then I went back a third time and only revealed the mouth to see if it was as effective.

I took the idea of the previous images and did it again but with 5 people. I combined one feature from 4 of the models and put them all of one face. I was hoping to create an image that looks wrong but real. I like that the shapes and colours in the eyes are different because it creates a new character and I think it shows distortion because it looks unusual. I want to continue to do this same effect but using different models or using a different face to put everything onto because I think it will make drastic differences to the outcome and help to explore distortion.

Picasso inspired.
I collected images from picasso and some inspired by him to help me with what I want to do next. From these images Im going to patch together new images to create a distorted effect. What drew me to these images was the way they are precise yet very messy and have an unorganised feeling to the,=m.
Different direction distortion.

I wanted to create something more interesting than merging peoples faces together because after doing it multiple times, the outcomes werre all starting to have the same effect. I decided to merge one persons face togther but of them looking in two different directions as I thought this would create a distorted face and have a shocking effect. I like the way it turned out because the way I edited it so that its effective but not as noticeable as it could be.

Up and Down Distortion.
Because I had previously experimented with using the models face when she was facing in opposite directions sideways, I decided to do the same thing but with the model looking up and down. I used the same process to edit the two images into one and I think the effect is interesting as it still looks realistic but very strange.

Picasso inspired distortion.
I got the idea to look to do this by looking at Picasso and Picasso inspired work. I like how the images are places on top of each other and nothing is blended. I think the way it is cut out makes it stand out to look eye catching. The models similarity in skin colour helped the photo piece together. I tried to line up some parts of the face but then the differences in the models head shapes made this difficult. However, I liked the outcome because it shows how it was inspired by Picasso because the way his work has been
